Potential Severe Weather Alert

The National Weather Service is forecasting an Arctic Blast for our area that may include rain, sleet or snow. Freezing temperatures are expected to hit late Wednesday and last through Saturday. Residents are reminded of the following:

  • Protect your pipes and pets.
  • Cover exterior faucets. Faucet covers are available at any hardware supply store.
  • Watch for ice on roadways, bridges and overpasses.
  • Allen residents can call Community Services at 214-509-4500 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to report problems with water line breaks, sewer and/or drainage; after 5 p.m. call 214-509-4530.
  • Do not run irrigation or other systems that create standing water resulting in ice formation on sidewalks and roadways.
  • Do not call 9-1-1 to report power outages. Power outages should be reported to your service provider as follows:

Outdoor restroom facilities at all Allen parks will be closed Wednesday through Sunday, Jan. 6 - 10. CWD services may be delayed or slide a day depending on the severity of weather conditions. Specific City of Allen facility closings and service notices will be posted in the Hot News section of the City of Allen\'s website.
