After more than a year and a half of planning and community support, the Allen Eagle Escadrille will travel to Pasadena, California on December 28 to perform in the 2006 Tournament of Roses Parade.

A total of 608 students, 40 staff members and 800 parents will make the 3,000-mile roundtrip. The combined Allen High School band, color guard and drill team will perform at the Rose Parade on January 2 before returning to Allen on January 3.

The parade will be broadcast on ABC, NBC, Univision, HGTV, Travel Channel and Discovery HD beginning at 10 a.m. (CST). The Escadrille will perform twice prior to the parade, at the Rose Parade Bandfest at Pasadena City College on December 30-31 and at the Disneyland Evening Parade on New Year’s Eve.

Fun Facts
  • It will take 6 airplane flights to transport the Escadrille, which is believed to be the largest in the United States.
  • 26 charter busses will be required to transport the group between locations in California.
  • If the students stood in a single-file line fingertip to fingertip, it would stretch over 3,400 feet.
  • Six sets of twins are members of the Escadrille, including two sets who coincidentally have the same first names and birthdates.
  • The combined weight of the Escadrille is over 40 tons.
