[ Up ]Annual Meeting April 3rd (Quorum Not Met)

We were unable to reach a quorum for the April 3rd, 2006 meeting. The meeting has been re-called for April 17th. After announcing the lack of quorum, the meeting turned into a question-and-answer session.

  • NMI introduced themselves to the homeowners and described some of their basic duties.
  • Homeowners asked questions regarding signs in the yard such as for sale and lease signs, they feel the signs are unsightly. Rob stated that the Covenants have restrictions specifying that signs less than 5 square feet the are acceptable.
  • If the homeowners would like to change any of the Bylaws or Covenants such as the one regarding the signs in the yard we would need to have 75% of the homeowners agree to submit and sign an amendment.
  • Homeowners complained about some of the yards and poor landscaping. NMI stated that they have taken over other communities with the same issue and they have been able to correct the issues within 6 months.
  • Homeowners complained about lids missing on trash cans. They would like to see an anouncement in the newsletter regarding this issue. Missing trash can lids causes problems for everyone, the trash blows out and goes into everyones yard. Rob stated that this was already slated for the next newsletter due to a previous request at an earlier open-forum meeting.
  • Homeowners asked if the elementary school will have a fence between it and the community. Katie has taken this action item.
  • Some homeowners asked about a citizens on patrol group. Currently we do not have people willing to volunteer with minor tasks it may be difficult to form a citizens on patrol group.
  • Homeowners complained about homes with bed sheets as drapes.
  • Complaints regarding speeding on neighborhood streets, NMI offered some information regarding the speed monitor machine that can be put out by the Allen Police which clocks every ones speed this tends to slow people down. Homeowners asked is we could do something about the speed, possibly change it or add road bumps but NMI has battled these same issues in other communities and it is not an easy task. We have had the radar system placed in the neighborhood several times previously, and have investigated speed bumps as well (they are not permitted by the City).
  • A homeowner asked why the West side of Allen is more involved in their communities than the people in the East.
